About
4Ktube is a Safari extension for Mac that shows a 4K badge in the toolbar when a YouTube video you're watching offers quality higher than 1080p. Clicking the toolbar button opens the current page in another browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or another app, and this works for any web page, not just YouTube videos. Holding the Fn key while clicking the toolbar button is described as a way to skip a playing video ad.
To set it up, download the 4Ktube app from the Mac App Store, click "Show in Safari Settings," and turn on the 4Ktube extension in Safari's extension settings. You can then choose which browser or app links open in. Shift-clicking the toolbar button also closes the page in Safari when it opens elsewhere, and this can be made the default in the app settings. Option-clicking the button opens 4Ktube Settings.
