About
Acorn is an image editor for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, including macOS 27 Golden Gate, with a universal binary for Apple Silicon Macs. It is offered as a one-time purchase with no subscriptions, and a 14-day free trial is available.
Acorn 8 adds tools such as Object Removal with the Synth Fill brush, a Healing Brush for blending away blemishes, a rewritten brush engine, ML-powered Subject Selection, a Live Text Tool for copying text from images, Data Merge for populating designs from CSV files, an on-canvas ruler, and Super Resolution ML image resizing. It also supports JPEG-XL import and export, Look Up Tables (LUTs) for color grading, and Apple Shortcuts integration. Export has been improved with real-time preview and custom presets, and animated GIF and PNG export is supported.
The app uses a single unified window with a matching toolbar, and includes an 8-bit color picker supporting RGB and HSV, a Perspective Fix & Crop tool, layered screenshots, and a Command Bar for finding menu commands and help documentation.
