About
AiderDesk is an open-source agentic platform for AI-assisted development that started as a graphical user interface for the Aider CLI and has grown into a broader orchestration layer. It is designed for experienced developers who want to keep control over AI behavior: you can see tokens, context files, and proposed changes before they are applied, approve tools and destructive actions, fork tasks, and edit chat history. It is meant to sit alongside your existing IDE, terminal, and Git workflow rather than replace them.
The app organizes work into Projects (repositories) and Tasks (features or bugs), and supports Git worktrees so the AI can experiment in isolated directories without touching your active branch. Diffs can be reviewed in side-by-side or unified views and merged back through a built-in workflow. Context is managed with vector embeddings (LanceDB), repository mapping, semantic search, and pinned documentation URLs or code symbols. Delegation to specialized subagents with custom profiles is supported, along with switching between many model providers.
AiderDesk also includes an extension architecture that lets users hook into lifecycle events and extend the platform's runtime and UI to fit their own toolchains and workflows.
