About
Eddie is a free and open source (GPLv3) client that wraps OpenVPN and WireGuard in a user-friendly interface. It supports multiple platforms, including macOS, and offers features such as network lock and leak prevention, censorship counter-measures like tunneling over SSH, SSL, or directly through Tor, and customizable actions triggered by events. A command-line edition, eddie-cli, is also available for macOS users who prefer the terminal.
While Eddie emphasizes simplicity and quick responsiveness, it also gives advanced users full control over OpenVPN directives, custom directives, and custom routes. It is integrated with the AirVPN service, which is required for certain features such as tunneling over SSH or SSL, but it can also be used standalone with other OpenVPN or WireGuard providers by enabling the multi-provider option in Preferences.
On macOS, Eddie is available as a DMG disk image or PKG package. The latest stable release is 2.26.2, and the project provides PGP signatures and checksums so users can verify their downloads.
