About
Aleph One is an open source continuation of Bungie's Marathon 2 game engine, available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It natively supports Marathon, Marathon 2, and Marathon Infinity, and many third-party scenarios and net maps are also available. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License.
The engine covers the Marathon trilogy, a fight for survival against the Pfhor alien race. Solo players can follow the story from the start, with Marathon 2 offering a popular single-player campaign with updated graphics from the XBLA remake, and Marathon Infinity focusing on rewriting history to prevent the destruction of the universe. Multiplayer supports up to 8 players in peer-to-peer matches over a LAN or the Internet, with a global matchmaking lobby for finding and chatting with other players.
Beyond the trilogy, the Aleph One engine powers dozens of community-made games, from new levels to total conversions, featuring new weapons, monsters, and storylines.
