Amethyst

About

Amethyst is a Nostr client, and the website describes it as a way to "join the social network you control." The project is open source under the MIT license, with its source code hosted on GitHub. The page lists downloads for Android, desktop operating systems, and the command line, including a macOS (Apple Silicon) build installable via Homebrew or as a .dmg file.

The site also documents a long list of supported Nostr protocol features (NIPs), covering areas such as encrypted direct messages, lightning zaps, relay-based groups, long-form content, and Cashu wallet support. It includes guidance on verifying that a downloaded APK is signed by the official release key, along with instructions for doing so using standard tools.

Installation instructions for each platform are provided, along with troubleshooting references and build-from-source documentation in the project's BUILDING.md file.
