About
Apache CouchDB is a database designed for seamless multi-primary sync, scaling from big data workloads to mobile devices. It offers an intuitive HTTP/JSON API, natively speaks JSON, and supports binary data for application storage needs. Data can be stored on your own servers or with any leading cloud provider.
CouchDB can run as a single-node database behind an application server, or as a cluster that runs one logical database across any number of servers or VMs, adding capacity and high availability without changing its APIs. Its Couch Replication Protocol lets data flow between server clusters, mobile phones, and web browsers, supporting offline-first applications. Individual nodes use a crash-resistant append-only data structure, and a multi-node cluster saves all data redundantly.
