About
Apparency is a Mac app that lets you inspect other apps. macOS runs many security checks on apps, including Gatekeeper, notarization, hardening, and entitlements, but usually shows only the outcome: the app opens, or a "downloaded from the internet" dialog appears. Apparency reveals the details. Control-click an app in the Finder and choose Open With Apparency to see its contents, identifiers and versions, and the "components" inside it, such as Share Extensions, Safari Extensions, Quick Look generators, and Spotlight importers. It also shows what Gatekeeper reported, whether the app was notarized, whether App Sandbox is enabled, and the code signature and entitlements.
Beyond security, Apparency lets you browse the app's Info.plist, find its executable, check the macOS version information, and inspect linked frameworks. You can also get a Quick Look preview of some of this information without opening the full app. The site positions it as a way to see in one place what macOS typically keeps hidden or spreads across Terminal commands and different settings screens.
