Arq is backup software for Mac and Windows that stores your files in a cloud account you already have, an attached disk, or both. Backups are protected with strong end-to-end encryption so only you can read your data, and the app supports many cloud providers as well as SFTP servers, external drives, and NAS devices, including backing up to multiple destinations at once.

Arq keeps a history of point-in-time backups, so if a file is corrupted, accidentally deleted, or encrypted by ransomware, you can restore an earlier version. It is designed for efficiency with compression, de-duplication, and block-level incremental backups, and it lets you restore directly from the app. Scheduling and resource controls include hourly or daily backups, Wi-Fi and network interface restrictions, a battery-power pause, bandwidth limits, retention limits, and custom exclusion rules.
