About
Audio Hijack is a Mac app for capturing audio from almost anywhere on your computer. You can save sound from websites and individual applications such as Safari and FaceTime, record input from microphones, mixers, and other devices, or capture all system audio at once. Recordings can be saved in popular formats like MP3 and AAC, or in lossless formats such as AIFF, WAV, ALAC, and FLAC.
The app is aimed at podcasters, audio producers, and anyone who needs to record calls or streams. It can record VoIP conversations from services like Zoom and FaceTime, and it includes a Simple Compressor and Magic Boost and Volume blocks for adjusting sound. Users can also send audio to live streaming services such as YouTube Live, Twitch, and Facebook Live, or to Shoutcast and Icecast internet radio servers, and paired with the utility Loopback, it can re-route audio between apps. Speech-to-text transcription is also available, processed locally with no ongoing charges.
Audio Hijack is available as a free trial with limitations, and a purchase unlocks the full version. Once a session is configured, it can be reused with one click, and recordings are organized by session in the Recordings tab.
