About
AutoSubs is a local-first subtitle app that turns audio or video into accurate, timestamped subtitles entirely on your own machine, with no cloud processing, subscription, or data leaving your computer. It can be used as a standalone app, where you select a file, choose a model and language or translation options, transcribe, edit speakers and subtitles, and export as SRT, text, or to the clipboard. It also connects directly to DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects, letting you send styled subtitles back to Resolve and import captions into Premiere Pro as caption tracks or create text layers from SRT entries in After Effects.
Key features include speech-to-subtitle transcription with a choice of AI models ranging from fast and lightweight to high accuracy, automatic speaker detection and labeling, and support for transcribing or translating over 1,000 languages. AutoSubs runs on Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, and Linux, with installers and a Homebrew option for macOS. The website notes that the Mac App Store version is not supported for DaVinci Resolve integration.
