About
BabelEdit is a Mac app for editing translation files such as JSON, YAML, PHP, ARB, Vue, properties, RESX and XLIFF. It supports many web and app frameworks out of the box, including Angular, Ember, Flutter, i18next, Java, Laravel, .NET, React, Rails, Svelte and VueJS, and it is also available for Windows and Linux. Its main idea is to keep all translation files in sync: add, delete and rename operations are applied to every language file at the same time, so a message either exists in all files or in none.
BabelEdit is framework-aware, so it works directly with a framework's translation files without requiring conversion, import or export. It understands the internal structure of these files and the placeholders each framework uses, and a source code view shows where translations are used in your code, which helps find unused translations and see the context of each one. Translation tools include machine translation suggestions from Google Translate, Microsoft Translator and DeepL, a pre-translate option for filling empty translations, and a spell checker with 42 languages. Filters let you find untranslated or unapproved messages, and comments and approval support help give translators context.
For exchanging work with translation agencies or other tools, BabelEdit can export and import Excel (.xlsx), CSV and Google Spreadsheets, and can convert between translation file formats such as YAML, JSON and XML.
