About
bb is a Mac app that acts as an IDE capable of controlling, customizing, and automating itself, which the makers describe as laying the groundwork for your own software factory. It is fully customizable: almost anything can be changed with a single prompt, such as adding a Linear issues panel, a CLI command, and an agent skill. Many of bb's built-in features, including the GitHub integration, agent memory, scheduled jobs, and remote access, are themselves plugins built with the same tools available to users.
bb can host multiple agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Pi, OpenCode, Grok, omp, and Hermes, each running in its own thread. Agents can spawn and manage other agents, and any program, such as a shell script, cron job, or chat bot on Telegram, Signal, or Slack, can start a thread that waits in your sidebar. Agents run on your own provider subscriptions, billed by those providers rather than bb. bb is MIT-licensed, so you can fork it and customize it, and it runs local-first on macOS, Windows (Alpha), and Linux (Alpha).
