About
Beamer is a Mac app for streaming videos from your Mac to Apple TV or Chromecast. You drag a video into Beamer and it starts playing on your TV, with support for subtitles and remote control. The site says it handles conversion and streaming for you, supports common and less common formats such as MKV, AVI, MP4, MOV, and WebM, and works with a range of codecs and resolutions.
Beamer 4, the version described on the site, adds a redesigned interface, improved performance, Chromecast Ultra support for 4K Ultra HD and HDR content, improved subtitle detection and synchronization, playlists and queues, and compatibility with tvOS 16 and AirPlay 2. Surround sound enhancement is also mentioned for Chromecast and Apple TV streaming. Beamer 4 is free to download and try, and a full license is listed at USD 35, which also includes other Softorino apps under the Universal License.
