About
BetterMouse is a macOS utility that provides smooth, configurable mouse scrolling, separate cursor acceleration and speed control, and mouse and keyboard bindings. It is positioned as a lightweight, privacy-conscious alternative to heavier vendor drivers such as Logitech Options. Features include butter-smooth scrolling with adjustable duration, direction, and acceleration, mouse drag panning, modifier-key scrolling for horizontal scroll, zoom, or speed changes, and thumbwheel configuration for supported Logi MX Master mice. Support for Logi hardware extends to DPI and onboard profile settings, and a bolt/unifying receiver pairing tool is included.
Users can map mouse buttons, drags, holds, and hold-scroll to keyboard shortcuts and special actions, with per-app exceptions for scrolling, mouse buttons, and keyboard mapping. The app is Apple-notarized, runs from the menu bar with a hideable icon, installs no extensions, drivers, or agents, and can be uninstalled by dragging it to the Trash. It requires Accessibility permission and offers a 7-day free trial with full functionality, followed by a one-time lifetime purchase. The troubleshooting guidance notes that it works best without other mouse helper apps, such as Logi Options+ or G HUB, running at the same time.
