About
BibDesk is a free, open-source bibliography manager for the Mac (OS X 10.13 and above). It tracks bibliographic information along with associated files and web links, such as PDFs or abstracts, and can automatically move and rename those files for you. Its search field filters your whole bibliography instantly, with advanced options including full-text search of attached PDFs and smart groups that show publications matching chosen keywords.
BibDesk supports a wide range of import and export options. It can import simple text files, BibTeX and RIS files, extract information from web pages, and access library and publication catalogues such as PubMed through Z39.50 or Entrez. For export, it supports RIS, BibTeX, and EndNote formats, can produce a PDF, or copy rich text to the clipboard. It is particularly well suited for LaTeX users, with native citation autocompletion for most LaTeX editors, and user-contributed scripts for many bibliographic tasks.
For collaboration, BibDesk allows bibliography sharing with colleagues and exports to HTML and RSS so others can stay up to date. Documentation, a wiki, AppleScripts, and mailing lists are available for additional help.
