About
Bike is a Mac outliner built for structured and focused thinking. It is designed to be fast even with large projects, handling opening files, scrolling, and resizing windows quickly without slowing down your Mac. It can serve as the main app for a big project or as a supporting tool for notes and ideas, and it works with standard file formats, shortcuts, and scripting to fit into existing workflows.
Bike combines the power of outlining with the freedom of a rich text editor. Its row types let you add headings, ordered lists, task lists, and more, while live word counts and text statistics appear in the status bar. Distraction-free options include full screen, typewriter, and focus modes, and navigation tools such as a focus heading view, back and forward controls, a breadcrumb trail, and deep-links within your outline help you move around quickly. Bike links keep working when you rename or move the outline file.
Bike uses open file formats: .bike files are HTML that you can view in a web browser, and it also supports .opml and .txt. It can print, generate Quicklook previews and thumbnails in the Finder, and be automated with scripts and shortcuts. Bike requires macOS 11 or later and is available as a free trial, through the Mac App Store, and on SetApp.
