BirdFont is a free font editor that lets you create vector graphics and export your work as TTF, OTF, and SVG fonts. The editor provides good support for both monochrome and color font formats. Installers and source code packages are available for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and BSD, and the project is developed by Johan Mattsson.
The release notes describe ongoing development, including variable TTF font support, multi-master export, improved SVG parsing and import, ligature generation, emoji support, and a ruler. The site also notes that the app runs on macOS Sonoma (14).
