About
Blip is a lightweight Mac app for sending files and folders of any size directly to another person, without uploading them to cloud storage or a public website first. Because there is no separate upload and download step, the recipient can start receiving right away. Transfers resume after interruptions such as network drops, unplugged drives, or full disks, and folders can be sent without zipping them first.
Blip is designed for speed and privacy. It uses a direct connection when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, which the site says is not limited by your internet plan, and otherwise relies on a relay that supports multi-gigabit speeds. Transfers are end-to-end encrypted using mutually authenticated TLS 1.3, so files are not exposed through public links. Blip works between different kinds of devices and across distances, and it can send Final Cut Pro .fcpbundle projects without zipping them.
Blip is free for non-commercial uses such as hobbies, education, and charity work, and the site states it shows no ads. Commercial or job-related use requires one of Blip's paid plans.
