BlueHarvest is a Mac app that automatically removes .DS_Store and ._ AppleDouble files from USB keys, SD cards, music players, file servers, and other non-Mac disks. It removes these items as they are created or modified, so disks stay free of metadata without manual cleanup. Once set up, its preferences work in the background, and individual disks can have their own settings and choose exactly which metadata is deleted.
Beyond automatic cleaning, BlueHarvest lets you clean any disk on demand from the menu bar and see what was removed. You can also control-click a disk or folder in the Finder and choose "Clean using BlueHarvest," which also removes Mac metadata from zip archives sent to non-Mac users. A Storage Cleanup feature shows the caches, logs, and preferences taking up space so you can delete what you don't need.
BlueHarvest supports macOS 10.15 through macOS 26 Tahoe and includes language support for Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A free 30-day trial of the full version is available.
