BoltAI 2 is a native macOS app, built with SwiftUI and AppKit, that gives Mac users one workspace for working with AI. It lets you switch between 300+ models from providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Azure, Bedrock, and local models run through Ollama and LM Studio, without leaving the app. The app supports projects, multi-chat threads, chat forking, reusable agents, and a prompt library, along with fine-grained controls over temperature, token limits, top-p/top-k, penalties, and system instructions. It also handles multimodal inputs such as PDFs, screenshots, and code, and can connect to MCP tools and code execution.
BoltAI 2 is designed to fit into everyday work through a global shortcut that opens the app over any other application, along with screenshot-based questions, dictation, and inline text editing. Chats sync across Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The app states that chats are stored locally, API keys can be encrypted with a passphrase, and chats are never used for training.
