Bright VPN

About

Bright VPN is a free VPN service that hides your real IP address and encrypts your internet connection. According to the site, it prevents websites from learning your real IP, and its encryption keeps others from reading your messages and activity. It also lets you unblock websites from over 150 countries, and includes a free "what is my IP" tool that shows your IP address, geographic location, and ISP.

The app is owned by Bright Data, which pays for free access in exchange for allowing Bright Data to occasionally access public websites through your device. The company states it only accesses public web pages, never slows your device or connection, and never collects personal information beyond your IP address. The site also says the service does not track or store logs of browsing history, traffic destinations, data content, or DNS queries, and that it does not show ads.

Bright VPN uses the IKEv2 encryption protocol and is designed for simple use: download the app, drag it to the Applications folder, and connect. The free tier requires no email or credit card, while paid tiers ($11.95 to $12.95 per month) offer device-based plans that require an email address.
