Buzz is an app that transcribes and translates audio offline on your personal computer, powered by OpenAI's Whisper. Because processing happens locally, your audio does not need to be sent to an external service.

Buzz can transcribe audio and video files or YouTube links, and offers live realtime transcription from a microphone along with a presentation window for events and presentations. It supports speech separation before transcription, speaker identification, and Apple Silicon acceleration on Macs. Transcripts can be exported to TXT, SRT, and VTT formats, and the Advanced Transcription Viewer includes search, playback controls, and speed adjustment.

For power users, Buzz includes a watch folder for automatic transcription of new files, a command-line interface for scripting and automation, and a plugin system. On macOS, the app is distributed as a .dmg, and according to the site, Buzz now requires Apple silicon, with the last version supporting Intel Macs being 1.4.5.
