Cadran

About

Cadran is a Mac app that draws clock faces directly on the wallpaper layer, behind your icons, across every Space and display. It has no widgets and no windows. The app offers 30 clock faces in six categories (Numeric, Analog, Data, Abstract, Matrix, and Spectrum), and you can pick a background preset or switch to transparent mode to keep your own wallpaper. Cadran lives in the menu bar rather than the Dock and can launch at login.

Cadran also supports complications that overlay live data such as weather, date, battery, and moon phase on supported faces, with weather powered by Apple WeatherKit. Additional options include color palettes, per-monitor setup, a screen saver mode, clock text in several languages, and a stealth mode that hides the seconds hand or the Dock icon. The app checks for updates in the background, and its developers state it has no accounts or analytics SDKs, with preferences stored on the Mac. It requires macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later and runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Cadran is free to start, with six clock faces and basic complications. A one-time $9.99 Pro purchase unlocks all faces, advanced complications, move and resize controls, and per-display assignment, and the license covers up to three Macs.
