About
CalHash is a Mac utility for calculating and comparing a file's checksum, also known as a message digest. It has been developed since 2003 by Titanium Software and is made freely available to Mac users, with an option to make a donation to support its development.
There is a specific version of CalHash for each major macOS release, so users should download the build that matches their operating system. The current release, CalHash 1.6.1, is for macOS Golden Gate 27 on Macs with Apple silicon. Older versions are available for earlier systems, from macOS Tahoe 26 back to macOS Catalina 10.15, though Titanium Software no longer develops or updates these older versions.
The website lists minimum requirements for each version, noting whether it runs on Intel-based Macs, Apple silicon Macs, or both. Users are warned not to try to run a non-compatible version.
