About
Capsomnia is a small macOS menu bar app that turns Caps Lock into a keep-awake switch for MacBooks. When Caps Lock is on, the Mac stays awake so AI agents and other long-running or remote work can keep running with the lid closed; when it is off, normal sleep behavior returns. The Caps Lock light shows the current state.
Beyond the basic switch, Capsomnia offers an optional setting to stop Caps Lock from forcing all-caps typing, a custom keyboard shortcut to toggle it, and an optional auto-off timer. It also includes an optional "Lock when lid opens" feature for use with tools like Computer Use, which is off by default and locks the Mac after a closed-to-open lid transition is detected.
Capsomnia collects no telemetry and requires no account. Network use is limited to an optional daily update check against GitHub's public release information, downloads from GitHub when you choose to update or install the CLI and Skill, and local gateway probes when "Keep hotspot connected" is enabled. The signed and notarized release package requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later; source builds also support Intel Macs on macOS 13.5 or later.
