ChatWise is a desktop AI chat app that works with any LLM, including GPT-4, Claude, and Gemini. It is built with performance in mind and optimized for the desktop experience, aiming to be simple and powerful without unnecessary bloat. Multi-modal chat supports audio, PDFs, images, text files, and more, and web search is available through Tavily or your local browser at no cost.
Privacy is a core focus: all of your data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it, except when chat requests are sent to your LLM provider. Users can bring their own API keys to connect directly with their preferred AI provider for greater control and potentially lower costs, and can also use existing subscriptions such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Pro/Max.
ChatWise also offers Artifacts for rendering HTML, React, charts, and documents, and supports MCP so AI can use tools like Notion, Google Sheets, and browsers. It is aimed at productivity, and particularly at developers and power users who want direct access to AI models.
