Claquette is an easy-to-use video utility built exclusively for the Mac. It lets you crop and trim video files, convert them to GIFs, or create new videos by recording your screen, your voice, your face, or a connected camera. You can also capture the screens of an iPhone or iPad connected to your Mac. Cropping and trimming don't require complex editing software: open a file, use the crop tool to select the relevant portion, or use the trim tool to remove unwanted footage from the beginning or end.
Claquette also helps with sharing. Its GIF and PNG optimization aims to keep file sizes small while maintaining visual quality, and it includes predefined settings for resizing videos for platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. It supports a range of video and animation formats and lets you convert between them. For users who need it, Claquette Pro (available via In-App Purchase) exports movies as Final Cut Pro X or Motion 5 projects, including separate lanes for cursor, frontmost window, and overlay audio/video when exporting screen recordings.
The app is designed to feel native on macOS, supporting features such as Dark Mode, Force Touch, and the Touch Bar, and it is optimized for both Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs. Recording options include lossless screen capture, system audio recording, webcam overlays (including iPhone via Continuity Camera), and a choice of "Performance" or "Quality" presets. Movies are color managed from recording through export.
