About
Clarc is a lightweight native macOS desktop client for Claude Code, built with SwiftUI rather than Electron. It brings the Claude Code agent workflow into a project-centric GUI, with streaming chat, repository switching, file browsing, Git status, permission controls, terminal access, and per-project notes. Clarc runs the real claude CLI underneath, so existing CLAUDE.md files, skills, MCP servers, and slash commands keep working.
The app is designed for people who aren't comfortable with the command line. Approval modals show the actual diff before a tool runs, with Allow, Allow Session, and Deny options. Multiple projects can be open at once, either as tabs or in separate windows, and in-progress conversations keep streaming in the background. Users can attach files, images, file paths, URLs, and long text by dragging or pasting them, and GitHub OAuth handles SSH key setup so repositories can be cloned without manual configuration.
Each project window includes an inspector with a file tree and search, Git status and branch switching, an embedded terminal, and a rich-text memo pad for project-specific notes. Sessions can be pinned, renamed, completed, forked, and batch-managed, and per-session controls let users choose the model, permission mode, and effort level. Custom and shortcut slash commands are also supported.
