About
claude-devtools is a Mac app (also available for Linux, Windows, and via Docker) that makes Claude Code's activity visible. Claude Code has replaced detailed terminal output with opaque summaries, hiding file paths, tool call details, thinking steps, and subagent activity. The app reads the session logs and transcripts Claude Code already saves to ~/.claude/ on your machine and reconstructs them in a visual interface, showing exact file paths with syntax-highlighted content, inline diffs, full tool call inputs and outputs, subagent execution trees, and extended thinking content.
Beyond tool calls, the app shows context window usage through per-turn token attribution across seven categories, including CLAUDE.md files, skills, mentioned files, tool I/O, thinking, team overhead, and user text. It also renders per-project Claude memory as a navigable index and offers real selectable text with one-click copy, avoiding the wrapping and formatting problems of copying from the terminal. It requires no configuration or API keys, and it is free and open source under the MIT license. It can be installed with Homebrew (brew install --cask claude-devtools) or by downloading the .dmg for Apple Silicon or Intel.
