CLion is JetBrains' IDE for professional C and C++ development, available free for non-commercial use. It works across Windows, Linux, and macOS with the compilers, build systems, and toolchains you already use, including CMake, Makefile, Bazel, Meson, GCC, Clang, and MSVC. Remote development and unit testing are part of the core workflow, and cross-compilation, on-chip debugging, and hardware-aware tooling are built in, which suits embedded systems and firmware work.

CLion provides code intelligence that understands C and C++ across usage and dependency resolution, analysis, and code exploration. Its deterministic tools, including the debugger (GDB, LLDB, or DAP-connected debuggers), help both developers and AI agents report verifiable results such as stack traces and variable values. Through JetBrains Air, you can run multiple agents at once, verify their work, and send code comments back to the agent. You can connect the agents you use and run them on your own API key, an existing plan, or JetBrains AI.
