About
CodeKit is a fully-native Mac app that bundles dozens of web development tools into one place. It compiles a wide range of languages out of the box, including Sass, Less, Stylus, CoffeeScript, Pug, Slim, Haml, TypeScript, JavaScript, Markdown, and common image formats, with options set through a graphical interface rather than build scripts. Users can also add processing for other file types directly in the UI.
The app covers the rest of the development workflow as well. Its live preview refreshes and syncs browsers across devices as you work, including over TLS, and CSS changes can be injected without a full page reload. It can optimize images, minify scripts and CSS, cache-bust assets, and generate source maps. CodeKit also includes an npm interface for installing and updating packages, project scaffolding for Tailwind, Bootstrap, and Zurb Foundation, built-in ESLint integration, and parallel builds. AI agents can drive the app through the terminal, and the app is extendable with custom shell scripts or AppleScript. It requires macOS 13.5 or later and is sold with a free trial and a license purchase, with no subscription.
