Compact Contacts is a Mac app that gives you a more information-dense workspace for Apple Contacts. You can scan thousands of contacts in a configurable table, choose columns, sorting, and row density, and inspect the selected card in a separate detail panel. Search can reach long Notes, which are indexed separately, and Smart Views combine All or Any rules while keeping their own columns, sorting, density, and detail layout.
For cleanup, Bulk Edit standardizes repeated fields across names, organizations, labeled values, addresses, birthdays, groups, and Notes, using literal or regex transformations with exact before-and-after review. Merge Studio lets you choose values field by field, combine multi-value data, select the destination, and undo eligible merges for 30 days from encrypted on-device history. Your system address book remains the source of truth, and the app has no developer-operated contact backend, advertising, or third-party analytics.
Compact Contacts is sold as a one-time purchase with no subscription: $24.99 for the Mac app, and $12.99 for the iPhone and iPad app, which the Mac purchase does not cover. Version 1.6 brings the iPad feature set to iPhone, with a four-tab layout, swipe actions, and step-by-step Bulk Edit and Merge Studio wizards.
