Compositor is a free, open source image editor for Mac, built as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop. Its creator used Photoshop for compositing and post-processing and built Compositor around that workflow, with the tools needed to create a pixel-perfect final image. The app includes layers, folders, layer masks, clipping masks, blend modes, selection tools, adjustment layers, and filters. It also offers background removal, gaussian and motion blur, lens correction, grain and noise, liquify and smear, spot healing, a clone stamp, and a brush.

Because Compositor is open source, you can download the Xcode project and add, remove, or modify any feature to fit your needs. The app is available to download for Mac, and its source code is available on GitHub.
