About
Create Custom Symbols is a Mac app that converts any SVG icon into a custom SF Symbol file that can be imported into Xcode and used in UIKit- or SwiftUI-based projects. You convert an icon by simply dragging and dropping it into the app, and the app also supports batch import of SVG icons and batch generation of SF Symbol icons.
Once created, a custom symbol can be used in code. The website's FAQ shows examples of displaying a custom symbol in SwiftUI with the Image initializer, applying scale and font settings, and placing it inline with text. For UIKit and AppKit, it shows how to load a custom symbol by name and apply symbol configurations such as point size, weight, and scale.
The website notes that multicolor support for custom symbols is currently not supported by the official documentation and the app does not yet support it. A community workaround is described: export the symbol from Create Custom Symbols, import the Symbols.symbols.svg file into the SF Symbols application to set colors and layers, and then export the multicolor symbol from SF Symbols.
