Crystal is a desktop app for running multiple Codex and Claude Code AI sessions in parallel git worktrees. It lets developers test and compare approaches and manage AI-assisted development workflows in one place. Formerly described as a multi-session AI code assistant manager, Crystal is open source under the MIT license.
Crystal has been deprecated as of February 2026 and replaced by Nimbalyst. You can still use Crystal, but the project recommends moving to Nimbalyst for active updates. Nimbalyst's listed features include git worktree isolation for parallel AI coding sessions and code-aware agent orchestration for implementation planning and task execution.
For downloads, documentation, and updates, the website directs users to nimbalyst.com and docs.nimbalyst.com. The Crystal source code remains available on GitHub.
