About
Dayflow is a private, automatic work journal for Mac. It runs quietly in the background, captures lightweight screen activity, analyzes it with your chosen AI provider, and turns your day into a chronological timeline of what you actually did, without timers or manual notes. Beyond the timeline, it offers a daily standup view with a GitHub-style activity grid plus highlights, priorities, and blockers; a weekly review showing focus patterns, time spent, dominant apps, and distractions; and a chat feature for asking natural-language questions about your work history. Timelines can be exported as Markdown.
Dayflow is local-first and open source. Recordings, timeline data, and the app database are stored on your Mac by default. You can choose local models through Ollama or LM Studio, or cloud providers such as Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude; if you use a cloud provider, the activity data needed for analysis is sent to that provider. Storage limits and automatic cleanup of old recordings are configurable.
Dayflow requires macOS 14 or later and Screen & System Audio Recording permission. It can be installed from GitHub Releases or via Homebrew (`brew install --cask dayflow`), or built from source in Xcode.
