About
DirEqual is a directory compare utility for Mac that detects even small changes between folders. Compared directories are shown side by side as expandable tree views, with each item's size and modification date displayed, and differences highlighted using colors and icons that indicate whether the change is in size, date, or content. To copy or delete items, you click an item's dot button and choose an action, represented by colored arrows; after setting your actions you click "Execute" to apply them, or "Synchronize" to sync the two folders.
Beyond folder comparison, DirEqual can compare text and binary files by content, highlighting differences at the line, word, and character level with a minimap showing all differences across both files. It also lets you create snapshots of any folder to compare against other folders or to see how a folder has changed over time. Additional features include filtering comparisons with filename templates, ignoring file name extensions, exporting results to CSV, and saving and restoring options and settings. DirEqual requires macOS 10.13 or later and is compatible with Intel and Apple M chip Macs.
