About
Ditto sits in your menu bar and translates text whenever you press CMD+C twice, showing the result in a popup window so you don't have to switch apps. It works system-wide across all apps. It uses the clipboard as the translation source and needs no accessibility permissions. Ditto requires macOS Sequoia 15.0 or later.
Ditto uses Apple Translate by default, which is built in and needs no API key or setup. You can instead add a DeepL Free or Pro API key for support of 35+ languages, including regional variants, and toggle between engines from the menu bar. The floating window shows source and translated text side by side, translates in real time as you type, and includes a swap button for quick back-translation. You can press Cmd+ESC or click away to dismiss it.
Ditto is a lightweight native Mac app with a 267 KB download size and a base memory footprint of under 40 MB. It appears as a menu bar item with no Dock icon. Ditto is not affiliated with Apple or DeepL.
