About
Dockside is a file shelf app for Mac that keeps your essentials within easy reach. It can sit beside your Dock or work independently of it, pinned to any edge of your screen, and it supports both bottom and vertical layouts. Drag and drop files, folders, apps, images, videos, links, and plain text onto the shelf, and use the Drop Shelf for temporary floating workspaces by shaking and dropping files into it.
Dockside is highly customizable. You can set up drop zones that run workflows and automations such as Shortcuts, AppleScript, and CLI commands, and the shelf offers file utilities like compressing files, reducing file size, and removing image metadata. By default, your recent downloads and screenshots appear on the shelf, and you can change that to suit your needs. Appearance options include Transparent, Dock-like, and Opaque modes with light and dark theme support.
Dockside is available with a free 14-day trial, and a lifetime license costs $5.99 with no subscription. It can also be installed via Homebrew, and it runs on macOS 13 or later.
