About
Dot's Home is a free, single-player game about a young Black woman, Dot (Dorothea Hawkins), who lives in her grandmother's beloved home. Dot receives a mysterious key from her grandmother that opens a door in the house, letting her travel through time to key moments in her family's history.
Along the way, Dot sees how individual decisions, however seemingly inconsequential, can have long-lasting collective impact. In one scene, a CASH-4-KEYS TV commercial presents Dot and her family with a choice: convince her grandmother to sell their home, or stay in the neighborhood and risk the consequences.
Reviewers have praised the game for tackling housing inequality, gentrification, racism, and generational trauma with empathy, and for turning a complex issue into a digestible narrative.
