About
DropDMG is a Mac app for creating and working with disk images. Just drag and drop a file or folder, and DropDMG automatically determines what to do, such as creating a disk image, converting to another format, or joining files. It supports the Mac disk image formats (.dmg, .sparsebundle, .sparseimage, and .img), as well as cross-platform archives like .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, and .iso. Developers can use it to package apps with a license agreement, custom volume icon, and icon layout over a background picture, and to code-sign disk images. Automation is available through AppleScript, Automator, or the command line.
Beyond packaging software, DropDMG can make and verify encrypted backups, create device image clones of hard drives, and build password-protected mini vaults using AES encryption. It can also compact sparse disk images, split large files into segments, join them back together, change the passphrase of an encrypted disk image, create bootable macOS install disks, and burn files or disk images to CD, DVD, or Blu-ray. Operations run on multiple cores and in the background, and the app keeps a detailed log of operations, errors, throughput, and compression statistics.
DropDMG requires macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later, and a free trial is available for download.
