EasyDMG

About

EasyDMG is a Mac app that replaces the default DiskImageMounter, so double-clicking a DMG mounts it, runs a quick security check, copies the app into /Applications, and opens it. Once installed, the disk image unmounts automatically, and you can optionally send the DMG file to the Trash so your Downloads folder stays clean.

EasyDMG runs the same Gatekeeper-style checks macOS performs, so verified apps simply open, while unsigned apps show a prompt that can be disabled in Settings. It is not a background app: it runs only for the few seconds an install takes, then quits, with no menu bar or Dock clutter. When an image contains license agreements, multiple apps, or pkg installers, it mounts the image and hands control back to you. Progress feedback is configurable, from a progress bar to a notification or silence.

Built natively in Swift for macOS 13 and later, EasyDMG is signed and notarized by Apple, collects no analytics, and uses Sparkle for auto-updates. It is free and open source under GPL-3.0, with a commercial license available.
