About
Eigent is an open-source desktop app for Mac that lets you work side by side with an AI agent. You choose the model that powers it, whether a cloud provider, an enterprise gateway, or a local model, and you can bring your own API keys. The site describes it as fully customisable and model agnostic, turning a given context into finished work while you stay in control.
The app organises work into Spaces, which package the agents, Skills, Connectors, and instructions a team relies on so they can be reused across sessions. Agents can run tasks such as market research, pulling sources and producing files like a written brief and a data table, and you can follow their progress through a chat or trajectory view that shows actions, delegation, and file changes. Memory can carry confirmed knowledge between tasks, and automations can run work on a schedule, event, or condition.
Oversight is a central theme: approvals and agent questions wait for your decision, agent browser access is restricted to targets you approve, and you can review sources and file history before accepting results. The product can be deployed locally or self-hosted, with secrets kept bound locally. The site notes that SOC 2 readiness and GDPR compliance work remain in progress.
