eObčanka is the official application for using the electronic functions of the Czech identity card on macOS. The website provides the current installation package as a DMG disk image, which is the only official source for the macOS version, and states that the package is digitally signed so the operating system verifies it before installation. The app supports macOS 26 Tahoe, 15 Sequoia, 14 Sonoma and 13 Ventura on both Intel and M1, M2 and M3 processors. The installation is run through a graphical wizard that requires an administrator account, and the installer places the eObčanka - Identifikace and eObčanka - Správce karty applications in the Applications folder, making them available to all users on the computer.

Installation is a short sequence: download the package, run it under an administrator account, complete the wizard steps including accepting the license agreement, and verify the result. An internet connection is needed only for the download, not for installation itself, and a card reader does not have to be connected during installation, though installing it beforehand is recommended. After installation, the eObčanka - Identifikace app runs diagnostics that check the card reader's availability and functionality, and a successful result shows all three checks as passed. If no reader is connected or no card is inserted, the middle check reports that problem.
