About
Equibop is a custom Discord app, forked from Vesktop, aimed at giving users better performance and improved Linux support. It comes with Equicord preinstalled and is described as much lighter and faster than the official Discord app. Listed features include Linux screenshare with sound and Wayland support, better privacy since Discord has no access to your system, a tray with customization options including voice detection and notification badges, and command-line flags (on Linux) to toggle the microphone and deafen status. It also includes custom arguments from a pull request and arRPC-bun with debug logging support.
Some functionality is not fully supported: global keybinds are not available on Windows or macOS, where command-line flags are suggested instead on Linux. A quick reference of command-line flags is provided, covering options such as forcing Wayland or X11, launching minimized to the tray, toggling mic or deafen, and toggling voice activity detection. Flags can also be saved persistently in a configuration file.
Equibop can be installed from its Releases page or the project website, and is available as community packages for some Linux distributions, with an AppImage recommended for broad compatibility. It can also be built from source using Bun, with an optional C++ helper library (LibVesktop) used on Linux for D-Bus events.
