About
Espanso is a text expander that detects when you type a keyword and replaces it while you're typing. It works system-wide with most applications and is available on macOS, as well as Windows and Linux. Espanso is open source, licensed under GPL-3, and is configured through simple, Unix-like files. A GUI is planned for the future.
You can use Espanso for templates, such as customer support replies, sales pitches, or email templates. If you forget a shortcut, pressing ALT+Space opens a search bar for finding the snippet you need. Espanso also handles dates, both past and future, and emojis. For more advanced use, snippets can run shell commands or custom scripts, and forms let you create reusable templates and pass form values into scripts.
You can extend Espanso with packages, such as ones for mathematical notation or German accents. You can also create your own packages and share them on the Espanso Hub.
