ExactScan is a Mac scanning app designed to help you move toward a paperless office. It supports a wide range of document scanners, including more than 500 models from brands such as Avision, Canon, Fujitsu, HP, Kodak, and Xerox, through built-in drivers, and it also works with scanners that use TWAIN and ImageCapture drivers. Features like automatic paper size detection, skew correction, black-and-white optimization, and blank page detection are meant to produce clean, compact files. Easy Scan lets you use profiles and a button-driven workflow to scan straight to PDF or other formats, with options to create searchable PDFs, customize file naming, and automate tasks through AppleScript.
The Pro version adds OCR for searchable documents in many languages, automatic page rotation, the ability to append pages to existing PDFs, barcode recognition, an imprinter for adding text such as dates or watermarks, and batch processing of existing files. The Enterprise version is aimed at high-speed volume scanning and adds PDF/A-1b support for long-term archiving and 2D barcode recognition. The website also states that free updates and support are included for at least two years after installation and activation.
