Expressions: Regex Playground is a Mac app for working with regular expressions. Type a pattern and see what it matches in your sample text immediately, with syntax highlighting, group highlighting, and easy switching between subexpressions. You can save useful expressions to a library to reuse later, and press cmd+r to open a built-in reference sheet without leaving the app. The app also supports multiline patterns with comments, plus dark and light modes and a full screen view.

Expressions uses ICU regular expressions, the standard used by Apple frameworks, and requires macOS 12 or newer. It supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The app is private by design: it does not collect usage analytics, telemetry, or the text and patterns you work with. It is available through the website and the Mac App Store as a one-time purchase for the current major version, and also through Setapp.
