About
ff·Works is a modern FFmpeg GUI for macOS that makes video conversion visual. Beginners can start quickly with a clean interface and easy drop zones, where you can create as many drop zones as you need and drag files onto them to process. When you need more, the app reveals advanced control over codecs, filters, subtitles, metadata, batches, and professional formats. It offers color adjustments such as exposure, contrast, saturation, and gamma, plus cropping (manual, auto, and black border removal), and unlimited image or video overlays that you can move and resize.
For analysis, ff·Works includes video quality metrics such as VMAF, PSNR, SSIM, and CAMBI to assess converted files, a Video Bitrate Analyser that shows bits per second and bitrate variations throughout a video, and a Contact Sheet Creator that generates a single image of thumbnails taken at regular intervals. The app also offers over 450 advanced FFmpeg options and more than 60 video filters, along with audio filters, image export, images-to-video conversion, and support for 4K, 5K, and 8K workflows. Hardware-accelerated encoding through Apple VideoToolBox is available for H.264, H.265, ProRes, ALAC, and AAC.
ff·Works can process up to eight files in a batch at once, stitch multiple files together, and handle both soft and hardburned subtitles. It includes many presets for devices and platforms such as iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, YouTube, and Vimeo, and you can create and manage your own. Media format support depends on the optional FFmpeg version you install. ff·Works is priced at €22.
